On Tuesday 13th February, the UoB Manchester campus celebrated its grand opening ceremony and Conferment of an Honorary Doctorate Award.
The event was a great success with over 80 guests in attendance, including students, staff, and 22 members of the UoB Board of Governors.
The UoB Board conducted a tour of the new premises and held a board meeting on site before taking part in the official opening ceremony and the award of an Honorary Doctorate to Ravi Gill OBE for services to education.
A welcome speech was made by George Windsor, the Earl of St Andrews, Chancellor of the University, and he also conferred the honorary doctorate on Ravi having unveiled the commemorative plaque to mark UOBM's official opening.
The Dean gave a speech, highlighting the partnership between UoB Manchester and UoB, and the Vice Chancellor responded with a speech on his vision for the future.
Ravi made a speech in response to receiving his honorary doctorate, during which he spoke at length about opening education to all, and making sure it was not just for the privileged few.
After the event there was a short reception with canapes and drinks.
